Face Unveiled

the personal blog of Lori Vernon.

This is the personal blog site of Lori Vernon. The purpose of this site is to to have an outlet to share thoughts, quotes and personal notes as I am inspired. The title "Face Unveiled" is inspired by the following verse:

"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."
II Corinthians 3:18

I am a missionary to the Akha hilltribe in Northern Thailand and am originally from Salem, Oregon. You can view more information about me at my website - The Vernon Journal - online at http://loriandpaul.hopedenver.com (another humblethorn designs site)

Chinese Sakura Tree
I've always loved the changing of the seasons. It always seemed like just when I couldn't stand another rainy day (I grew up in Oregon), spring would burst forth in all it's glory!

We just returned from few days in the village and as we drove into Mae Salong, we were amazed to see that in the three weeks since we've been away, the whole mountain has sprouted pink blossoms. Enormous Chinese Sakura trees line the roads and infiltrate the forests with the beauty of spring. It does feel like winter was a little short, but who am I to complain? Spring was always my favorite season!

How do you say EGG?

My husband is always teasing me about how I say certain words... like "egg" and "leg". (I say them with a long "a" instead of a short "e" ...which he insists is the proper way.) We've always been curious to unravel the mystery of my little accent , so this silly little questionaire, which supposedly tells what type of American English you speak, caught my attention. Here are my results...

My Linguistic Profile:

70 % General American English
20% Upper Midwestern
5% Midwestern
5% Yankee
0% Dixie
